One of my first forays in to bookmaking was a one-off titled Every Thing Created Is Stolen. This is a spiritual sequel of sorts, another digital sketchbook comprised of imagery and text relating to the ideas of inspiration, concept and process.
As Out of Mind was growing in scope to a years-long endeavor, I had both an excess of content as well as a lot to consider in terms of what it all actually meant. The process of bookmaking isn’t like most visual art, in that it’s a unique medium to express a variety of ideas through.
Off The Grid is more a look at the simple root of those ideas, through basic digital collage and assembly, as if to explore the core concept through visual metaphor instead of written hypothesis.
This page features a selection of internal spreads from the book, which in total caps off at 96.
